TGIF......

Well......For those of you waiting to see the one week puppy pictures you will have to check back tomorrow :)  Today was my first day back to work since the puppies were born, and it has been a hectic one.  My time at home reminded me of a box I saved from a "Philosophy" gift set.  It says "Aloha girls live life on island time".....which is what I would prefer to do all the time....lol.
Today I felt more like this.....(which is why I am booking flights for January).....

Most of the evening was spent taking care of Hilo and babies and trying to get the kids organized for their dress up Halloween parties at school tomorrow.  Let's say that I completely underestimated the amount of time it would take to do a "practice run" of Katie's red spiderweb novelty contact lenses :)  In the midst of convincing her that she could not "lose" the lense in her eye.....someone discovered that the hot water tank was flooding the furnace room!!  Good thing Mike is handy, and was able to quickly replace a valve to fix the problem.  Yay!!  Water for a morning shower.....and to do 3 or 4 loads of sopping wet towels :(

The best part of the night came at about 10 pm when Katie announced her "forgotten" homework.....

Katie: "Mom....what is the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon"?
Me: "Just a second....I'm busy right now".....(translation......I'm buying some time so I can look it up on my blackberry).

Ok.....Off to bed.  Oooops.....Not yet.  Now she must do ten Halloween themed sentences using "high level words".

Me: "What is a high level word"?
Katie: "You know.....A word that you wouldn't know in grade 5".....(translation......A word you need to get your parents to tell you.  Plus.....You are in grade 5 right?)

Seriously......To save time it actually crossed my mind to suggest that she just use what I will now refer to as "low level words".  You know......those words that people were constantly correcting when we were young??  Apparently if there is a big enough following with certain words, they just get added to the dictionary.
Case in point......"It is funner to be at home with the puppies than it is to be at work".
No need to come up with a high level explanation such as "something that provides mirth or amusement" when you could stick with the familiar, old reliable stand-by.......a new addition to Webster's :)

The best hour of the night was catching Oprah's Lifeclass on TV while the boys were at hockey.  It provided me with the serenity and solace (threw in a couple high level words just to prove I know them....lol) that I needed at the end of the work day.

The video of "Faith" the dog is definitely worth watching :)

Check back tomorrow as I will be posting the one week pictures of Hilo's puppies.  They are growing fast and getting cuter by the minute!!

Three Days Old

Hilo and the puppies are all doing great!!  Hilo is a "natural" at being a mom, and is very attentive to her babies.....who are getting cuter every time I peak in the whelping box :)  Everybody here chooses a different "favorite" each day as it is too hard to stick with just one!  Here are a couple of pictures to help prove my point.  It is very easy to love faces that look like this......

OK......I would be a really awful "dog mom" if I didn't mention how much we love the other special doodle in our lives :)  Let's say that Kona is "doing his best" with all the changes here.....lol.  He hasn't really figured out what Hilo did to deserve all the special treats he sees going in and out of the new big white castle she lives in :)  Luckily he does feel like we have paid extra special attention to him......
I set up the futon beside the whelping box, and Kona thinks it is his new dog bed :)  Here he is lying in his new favorite spot.......

Happy Birthday!!

Hilo did a great job....and we have been blessed with 7 beautiful puppies.  There are 6 boys, and 1 girl (who I'm sure will be the boss......lol).  They are all happy and healthy and getting lots of love from their mom :)  All are dark red in color and most have cute white markings on their heads and chests and even the tips of a couple tails!!  Check back tomorrow and I will post pictures.

Waiting for babies

After all the waiting we are getting close :)  Hilo's temperature dropped this morning.....meaning we are on the home stretch to the labor and delivery of puppies!!  We are all excited and everyone is trying to guess how many.  I vaccumed the floor today, and found 4 "lucky pennies"......Could be a sign?  We are all ready, and Hilo is settled into her new whelping box.....thanks to the handiman talent of my husband Mike.  I was looking at Hilo's baby pictures and have posted one of my favorites of her @ 1 1/2 weeks old.  I will keep you posted.......

Happy Birthday Hilo!!

We celebrated Hilo's 2nd Birthday on October 3rd.  She enjoyed a raw bone in the yard and went for a car ride!!  Hilo is starting to get a belly.....and we are all getting very excited for the puppies to be born.  My husband Mike has drawn up plans for the whelping box and will begin construction soon.  We were thinking back to Hilo's baby pictures; and picked one of our favorites from Halloween :)  We hope to take some like this of the new babies to post on the blog too!
