Well......For those of you waiting to see the one week puppy pictures you will have to check back tomorrow :) Today was my first day back to work since the puppies were born, and it has been a hectic one. My time at home reminded me of a box I saved from a "Philosophy" gift set. It says "Aloha girls live life on island time".....which is what I would prefer to do all the time....lol.
Today I felt more like this.....(which is why I am booking flights for January).....
Most of the evening was spent taking care of Hilo and babies and trying to get the kids organized for their dress up Halloween parties at school tomorrow. Let's say that I completely underestimated the amount of time it would take to do a "practice run" of Katie's red spiderweb novelty contact lenses :) In the midst of convincing her that she could not "lose" the lense in her eye.....someone discovered that the hot water tank was flooding the furnace room!! Good thing Mike is handy, and was able to quickly replace a valve to fix the problem. Yay!! Water for a morning shower.....and to do 3 or 4 loads of sopping wet towels :(
The best part of the night came at about 10 pm when Katie announced her "forgotten" homework.....
Katie: "Mom....what is the difference between a hurricane and a typhoon"?
Me: "Just a second....I'm busy right now".....(translation......I'm buying some time so I can look it up on my blackberry).
Ok.....Off to bed. Oooops.....Not yet. Now she must do ten Halloween themed sentences using "high level words".
Me: "What is a high level word"?
Katie: "You know.....A word that you wouldn't know in grade 5".....(translation......A word you need to get your parents to tell you. Plus.....You are in grade 5 right?)
Seriously......To save time it actually crossed my mind to suggest that she just use what I will now refer to as "low level words". You know......those words that people were constantly correcting when we were young?? Apparently if there is a big enough following with certain words, they just get added to the dictionary.
Case in point......"It is
funner to be at home with the puppies than it is to be at work".
No need to come up with a high level explanation such as "something that provides mirth or amusement" when you could stick with the familiar, old reliable stand-by.......a new addition to Webster's :)
The best hour of the night was catching
Oprah's Lifeclass on TV while the boys were at hockey. It provided me with the serenity and solace (threw in a couple high level words just to prove I know them....lol) that I needed at the end of the work day.

The video of "Faith" the dog is definitely worth watching :)
Check back tomorrow as I will be posting the one week pictures of Hilo's puppies. They are growing fast and getting cuter by the minute!!
